Camera types
In photography, cameras can be categorized into various types with each being designed to meet specific photographic needs.
DSLR cameras
DSLR cameras (Digital Single-Lens Reflex) are known for their optical viewfinder and reflex mirror system. DSLRs are known for their versatility and performance, featuring interchangeable lenses, manual control, and exceptional image quality. These cameras cater to both beginners and professionals with a range of models.
Mirrorless cameras
Mirrorless cameras lack the mirror mechanism found in DSLR cameras (hence the name). Instead of an optical viewfinder, these cameras use an electronic viewfinder to preview the image, and you can see the metered exposure adjustments in real-time. Mirrorless cameras have gained popularity due to their quieter nature, reduced size, and lighter weight, which still providing great image quality.
Full frame cameras
Full frame cameras refer to cameras equipped with a sensor that is roughly the same size as a 35mm film frame. Both DSLR and mirrorless cameras can be a full frame sensor camera. On the opposite end, you have APS-C sensor (crop sensor) cameras. These types of cameras are sought after by professionals because of their superior image quality, especially in low-light situations.
Overall, each type of camera has its own distinct advantages and choosing the right type largely depends on your specific needs, shooting style, and the kind of subjects you plan on photographing.
